1.   About AHJZU

Anhui Jianzhu University (AHJZU) is the only multi- disciplinary university in Anhui Province featuring civil engineering and architecture disciplines. It was founded in 1958 and is located in Hefei City, Anhui Province. The university is jointly established by Anhui Province and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is an excellent university for evaluating the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education, the unit for granting a doctorate, a national university for implementing the “Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Engineers” and national model unit for conservation-oriented public institution.

There are 12 colleges and 64 undergraduate majors in the

school, covering seven major disciplines of engineering, management, science, art, literature, law and economics. There are more than 16,800 full-time undergraduates and over 2,400 graduate students. There are more than 1,500 teaching and administrative staff, including 1,214 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are more than 520 with professional and technical titles above the deputy senior level, 1,094 with master’s degree or above, 15 with doctoral supervisors and 578 with master’s supervisors.

There is 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree program, 12

first-level disciplines master’s degree programs, 14 professional degree program categories, 8 provincial key disciplines, 1 national engineering laboratory, 10 provincial key laboratories, 25 national and provincial engineering (technology) research centers, 1 provincial international technical cooperation base and 2 college think tanks in AHJZU. More than 1.7 million paper books and 3 million electronic books are now available in the library.

AHJZU is active in developing international cooperation and academic exchange and has established a close relationship with

over 20 universities in the United States, Germany, UK, Russia, Belarus, Korea and Chinese Taiwan. We have achieved huge progress in joint student-teacher cultivation, academic exchange and scientific and research cooperation among teachers, sino-foreign cooperation in running schools and other aspects. AHJZU is the sino-foreign cooperation school running unit recognized by the Ministry of Education.

2.1 Undergraduate Programs

Civil Engineering

Introduction to the major: The students trained in this major can master the basic principles and knowledge of civil engineering discipline, receive the basic training of engineer quality, and be able to engage in the technical or management work in the fields of civil engineering design, construction, management, research, education, investment and development.

Core courses: Theoretical Mechanics, Materials Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Design Principle of Concrete Structure, Steel Structure,Civil Engineering Construction, Civil Engineering Cost, High-rise Building Structure, Engineering Project Management, Software Engineering and Building Equipment Automation, etc.

Architecture

Introduction to the major: Based on regional characteristics and confronting the forefront of discipline development, this major aims at the cultivation of innovative talents in architecture as well as advanced innovative and applied talents with solid basic theoretical knowledge and professional qualities in architectural design, urban and rural planning and landscape architecture, scientific spirit and humanistic quality, innovative design thinking and team spirit, engineering practice and inheritance and innovation ability, and all- round development of morality, intelligence, beauty and labor.

Building Mechanics, Building Structure and Site Design, etc.

Environment Engineering

Introduction to the major: This major is designed to cultivate graduates who are well educated in fundamental disciplines of wastewater, exhaust gas, physical pollution, solid waste and other pollution prevention and control, who can be engaged in the job of environmental planning and management, environmental engineering design and construction, environmental engineering education and R&D provided by government, planning and design institute, economic management department, environmental protection department, industrial and mining enterprises, scientific research units, and universities, as senior engineering and technical talents in environmental engineering.

Core courses: Engineering Drawing, Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Environmental Engineering Microbiology, Hydrology and Hydrogeology, Wastewater Pumping Systems and Lift Stations, Water Pollution Control Engineering, Air Pollution Control Engineering, Solid Waste Control Engineering, Physical Pollution Control Engineering, Environmental Monitoring, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Ecology and Environmental Pollution Experiments, etc.

Financial Engineering

Introduction to the major: This major is designed to cultivate compound and application-oriented talents who adapt to the needs of economic and social development, especially the rapid development

of financial big data and internet finance. Students shall have a solid foundation in economic and financial theory, master systematically financial engineering expertise and related skills, possess innovative spirit, entrepreneurial awareness and innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and have a sense of social responsibility and market competition. They are able to engage in investment and financing, risk management, financial product marketing and finance in traditional financial industries such as banking, securities, insurance, new financial fields such as Internet finance, and enterprise investment and financing management departments.

Engineering Management

Introduction to the major: This major aims at applied senior engineering management talents with solid basic knowledge of civil engineering technology and management, economy and law related to engineering management, basic training of engineers and strong professional comprehensive quality and practical working ability, who can use scientific knowledge and engineering methods to solve practical problems, work actively with strong professional ethics, and be engaged in engineering feasibility analysis, engineering investment decision-making, engineering project management, engineering cost management and engineering supervision.

Environment Design

Introduction to the major: This program trains students with innovative thinking in environmental design, solid professional knowledge, and practical skills. Students shall master theories and skills in related disciplines, possess strong design coordination and organizational management capabilities, and have high professional adaptation capabilities. The program aims at training highly qualified professionals who are engaged in indoor and outdoor environmental design, including the design, teaching, research and management of indoor furnishings, environmental facilities and landscapes. Students enrolled in this major shall be capable of drawing.

Civil Engineering

Introduction to the discipline: The discipline aims at cultivating students who can master solid and systematic basic theories in the field of civil engineering and broad professional knowledge, understand the frontier development trend of corresponding disciplines with certain research capacities and practical skills, can utilize advanced technologies and methods to solve the relevant problems in engineering field, be capable of independently undertaking technical or management works in the field of corresponding engineering and become high-level application-oriented, development-oriented, compound senior engineering and technical talents and management talents with good professional qualities.

Core courses: Elastic-Plastic Mechanics, Advanced Rock

Mechanics, Finite Elements in Engineering, Advanced Theory of Concrete Structures, Advanced Steel Construction and Bridge Conceptual Design, etc.

Environment Science and Engineering Introduction to the discipline: This discipline aims at training

students with a solid theoretical foundation and rich practical experience in the field of environmental specialty, a good sense of social responsibility, professional ethics and humanistic quality and the ability to design, construct and operate pollution control projects, who can formulate environmental protection plans and conduct environmental assessment and management, have employment competitiveness in environmental protection and other fields, and master the research and development ability of new theories, new technologies, new processes and new equipment in environmental protection, have the ability of teamwork, communication and expression and project management, have innovative spirit, sustainable development concept and international vision and can learn and adapt to development continuously.

Core courses: Matrix Theory, Mathematical Statistics and Stochastic Process, Water Treatment Theory and Technology, Solid Waste Resource Utilization, Wastewater Biological Treatment, Modern Environmental Analysis Technology and Environmental Toxicology, etc.

Material Science and Engineering

Introduction to the discipline: Students should be able to systematically and deeply master the professional knowledge of

material science and engineering (civil engineering materials, functional polymer materials and environmental energy materials), understand the current situation, developments and the forefront of international academic research of the discipline, can carry out scientific research with high academic significance or practical value with innovative abilities and achievements, can be engaged in scientific research, technology development, process design and economic management in the fields of material design, synthesis, modification, processing and application and be able to master a foreign language to conduct international communication.

Core courses: Material Science and Engineering, Material Thermodynamics, Material Analysis and Characterization, High- Performance Concrete, Material Synthesis and Preparation and Structure and Properties of Nanomaterials, etc.

2.3    Chinese Language Study Program

Core courses: Chinese Writing, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading and Chinese Speaking, etc.

3.   Qualifications

3.1   Undergraduates

1.            Applicants should be in good health and good conduct without criminal record and hold valid foreign passport.

2.         Requirements on language: applicants should generally pass the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) before entering the university, i.e. Level-4 of the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK4). Those who have not

obtained the above-mentioned Chinese proficiency test grade must first take one year’s preparatory study after entering the school, and the school shall organize and carry out Chinese proficiency training. After the training is completed, they can only obtain formal status as students and transfer to relevant majors after passing the HSK test.

3.            Applicants should have a diploma equivalent to that of China’s high school.

4.          Applicants should be at least 18 years old in principle and under 28 years old. It is needed to provide guarantee of guardian in China for applicants under 18 until September 1, 2023.

3.2   Graduates

1.   Applicants should be at least 18 years old in principle and under 40 years old. Applicants should be in good health and good conduct without criminal record and hold valid foreign passport.

2.   Requirements on language: Applicants whose mother tongue is not English should reach IELTS 6.0 or IBT 80 points or equivalent English level. Applicants with the highest academic qualifications whose medium of instruction is English are exempted from language certificates, but must provide proof of the medium of instruction.

3.   Applicants should have at least obtained the bachelor degree.

3.3     Chinese language learners

1.         Applicants should be in good health and good conduct without criminal record and hold valid foreign passport.

2.         Applicants should have a diploma equivalent to that of China’s high school.

3.        Applicants should be at least 18 years old in principle and

under 28 years old. It is needed to provide guarantee of guardian in China for applicants under 18 until September 1, 2023.

5.2 Scholarship of AHJZU

Remark: “Anhui Provincial Governmental Scholarship”, “President Scholarship” and “The Belt and Road Scholarship”” cannot be applied at the same time.

6.    Application Materials

1.           Application Form for Study at AHJZU and Application Form

for AHJZU Scholarship;

2.           Notarized highest academic qualification certificate. If the applicant is a student in school, he/she must submit an in-school certificate issued by his/her school (notarized Chinese or English translation shall be attached to the text except Chinese and English);

3.          Notarized transcript of study (notarized Chinese or English translation must be attached to texts other than Chinese and English);

4.           Study or research programs in China (not less than 800 words) (written in Chinese or English);

5.              A photocopy of the Physical Examination Form for Foreigners filled out in English and the original must be submitted when applicants come to China.

6.           Copy of the applicant’s passport;

7.           Students applying to study for a bachelor program in our university must provide proof of HSK results within the valid term. Applicants without a Chinese foundation must have a 1-2-year learning on Chinese.

8.           Bank deposit certificate (at least equivalent to RMB 20,000).

9.           No criminal proof issued in the recent 6 months.

10.          Eight recent identification photos (the size is the same as that of passport photos).

11.          Recommendation letter (applicants who apply for a master degree need to submit the recommendation letter from two professors or associate professors, which should be confirmed and signed by your university);

12. Others: published articles and achievements, various award

certificates and certification materials.

7. Application Procedure

1.   Download and fill in the Application Form for Study at AHJZU and Application Form for AHJZU Scholarship from the website                       of                             Anhui  Jianzhu University (http://en.ahjzu.edu.cn/9357/list.htm) and send them together with scanned copies of other application materials to the mailbox: gjc@ahjzu.edu.cn;

2.   Pay application fee: applicants shall pay the application fee of RMB 400 (the application fee will not be refunded);

3.   After receiving the complete application materials and remittance vouchers, the International Student Enrollment Review Committee of our university will conduct a fair and impartial review of each applicant’s materials;

4.   After confirming the admission list, our university will officially inform the students of the admission results. If accepted, our university will send an electronic letter of admission. After the students pay a certain deposit (RMB 2,000), our university will officially send the letter of admission, JW202 visa application form

and other texts. (Deposit will not be refunded if you do not register in our university on time);

5.   Students hold relevant texts and materials to the Chinese embassy or consulate in the original country to apply for a study visa in China;

6.  Students come to the university to register with the letter of admission.
