I.  Introduction of Anqing Normal University 

Anqing Normal University (AQNU) is located in Anqing, a famous national historical and cultural city, a national civilized city and an excellent tourist city in China. The university enjoys a long history; it is also the birthplace of higher education in Anhui province in modern times. The university has two campuses, Longshan campus and Linghu campus, which cover an area of 2,800 mu (about 1.87 square kilometers) altogether. 

There are 17 colleges and 72 undergraduate majors, covering 10 discipline categories, including literature, economics, history, law, education, science, engineering, management, agriculture and art. There are 11 academic master programs (Marxism, Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics, Chemistry, Statistics, Education, Chinese History, Ecology, Information and Communication Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Software Engineering) and 11 professional master programs (Education, Law, Sports, Translation, Journalism and Communication, Fine Arts, International Business, Social Work, Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Applied Psychology, and Mechanical Engineering). The university now has faculty of 1,500 and more than 30,000 full-time students. AQNU has formed friendship and cooperation with a number of overseas universities, including Salisbury University, University of Central Arkansas, University of Hildesheim in Germany, and Hanseo University in South Korea. It has carried out effective cooperation with these universities in terms of faculty exchange, students exchange, teaching and research, etc.

1. Basic Requirements 

Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports, between the ages of 18 to 25 and in good health. Chinese of foreign nationality must provide a record of at least 2 years of actual residence in a foreign country during the last 4 years. 

2. Academic Requirements

Applicants for the Bachelor programs should have completed all courses of the high school or have obtained the equivalent degree. All the courses in the transcript should be passed or be completed with better scores. Applicants who apply before graduation should provide the expected graduation certificate.

Applicants for the Master programs should have completed all courses of the Bachelor’s degree or have obtained the equivalent degree. All the courses in the transcript should be passed or be completed with better scores. Applicants who apply before graduation should provide the expected graduation certificate. 

3. Language Proficiency Requirement 

Applicants should provide the certificate of HSK Level 3; or they should have learned Chinese for one year in AQNU and have passed all the exams.

IV.  Tuition and Other Fees

1. Tuition: Bachelor programs: RMB 12,000 / year

          Master programs: RMB 16,000 / year

2.  Accommodation fee: RMB 2,000 per year for a double room.

3.  Textbook fee: paid according to the actual costs incurred and expected to be RMB 600 each semester. Any excess payment will be refunded and deficiency shall be repaid. 

4. Interview fee: RMB 400 per person, this fee is non-refundable once paid.  

5. Visa, insurance, physical check-ups, etc. are paid by the applicant.

＊University Scholarship will cover tuition and the accommodation fee. 

V.  Scholarship Policy 

International students, including undergraduate and post graduate students, can apply for the international students scholarship. There are two types of scholarship: Academic Scholarship and Excellent Student Scholarship. 

 Basic Requirements for applying scholarships:

1. be non-Chinese citizens and hold foreign passports or valid visa in China; 

2. abide by Chinese laws and regulations and school rules, having no criminal records;

3. have paid the tuition fee and accommodation fee.

1. Academic Scholarship:

Academic scholarship is only for international students who study at AQNU at their own expenses. The award will cover both tuition fee and accommodation fee. Students who apply for the academic scholarship for the first time should meet all basic requirements of scholarship application; students who have already applied before should make sure that they have passed all subjects. 

2. Excellent Student Scholarship  

Levels of award: 

First-class scholarship: 3,000 Yuan / academic year, top 10% students; 

Second-class scholarship: 2000 Yuan / academic year, top 20% students; 

Third-class scholarship: 1,000 Yuan / academic year, top 30% students. 

 Application requirements:

Applicants should meet the following basic requirements: have studied in AQNU for at least one year; have not received any other scholarships or grants from Chinese government or other organizations; have passed all subjects and achieved good academic performance; have qualified Chinese language competence (be testified by HSK certificate or other Chinese language certificates).

Students who meet one of the following requirements will be given priority in consideration: has been ranked the first in academic scores in the last semester; has got higher HSK score than any other students at class; has / have obtained excellent achievements in academic competition; has / have obtained excellent achievements in academic research; has / have obtained excellent achievements in innovation and invention; has / have made contribution in terms of the university’s international exchange.

VI.  Application Procedure

1. Please prepare the following materials and send the electronic files package via email；

(1) Anqing Normal University International Students Application Form;

(2) photocopy of the passport;

(3) photocopy of HSK transcript;

(4) the original transcript of all courses of the previous degree (in high school or of the Bachelor’s degree). The transcript should be in Chinese or English; Non-Chinese or English materials must be provided with original copies of the notarized translated version;

(5) proof of bank deposit in the name of the person or the guardian (at least equivalent to RMB 50,000);

(6) the original or notarial certificate of the highest degree;

Applicants who apply before graduation should provide the proof of attendance from the school he/she is attending (the document should be in Chinese or English; Non-Chinese or English materials must be provided with original copies of the notarized translated version).

(7) Applicants for Master’s degrees should provide two letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professors, all letters must be signed by the referee and confirmed with the university stamp.

(8) plan for study or research in China (at least 600 words);

(9) photocopies of other supplementary materials. (e.g. awards, certificates etc.)

2. Having passed the preliminary screening, applicants will receive the interview notice and need to complete the payment of the interview fee (RMB 400);

3. Please attend the admission interview for international students as scheduled; 

4. For applicants who have passed the admission qualification review, AQNU will issue the Admission Notice and assist in the processing of the JW201/202 form (Visa Application Form for Study in China). Applicants will then apply for China Study Visa (the X visa) at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate with the Admission Notice and the documents required by the Embassy or Consulate.

5. Students who are admitted must register in accordance with the requirements of the Admission Notice on time.
