1. About NTVU

Founded in 1973, Nantong Vocational University (NTVU) is one of the earliest higher vocational institutions accredited by Jiangsu Provincial Government and National Ministry of Education. NTVU is located in Nantong, Jiangsu, a city (a prefecture level city) lying along the Yangtze River at the mouth of the Yellow Sea in East China, and it is considered the cradle of modern industry and education in China.

NTVU covers an area of over 667,000 square meters with an enrollment of over 20,000 in 2023, and it owns about 1000 staff and faculty members. NTVU is listed as one of National High Level Higher Vocational Institutions in China.

2. Majors Offered

If you have passed HSK4, you can choose the following majors which would be taught in Chinese, and you will join Chinese students:

A. If you haven’t passed HSK4 but you can speak English well, you can choose one of the four majors which would be taught in English, and you will join other international students:

l  Mechanical Manufacturing & Automation;

l  Internet of Things Application Technology;

l  Environmental Monitoring & Control;

l  Construction Engineering Technology

1. Application of International Students in NTVU

A. Basic Qualification

l  Over 18 year’s old, not more than 28,

l  High school graduate or above,

l  Non-Chinese citizen, and in good health,

l  With a certificate of HSK4 or English test certificate (only for EFL candidates, and if your native language or second language is English, you don’t have to provide a language proficiency test certificate).

II Other Documents Needed

1.     Degree courses:

①  Academic diploma: a photocopy of the applicant’s latest academic diploma or certificate;

②  Academic record: the original transcript of academic record (A photocopy of the transcript will not do);

③ A reference letter;

④     A photocopy of the applicant’s passport(please scan every page);

⑤     Physical examination record for foreigners;

⑥     A photocopy of the applicant’s emergence contact (can be a passport , license ,or other official ID);

⑦     A photocopy of HSK 4 certificate (for programs in Chinese), a test report photocopy of IELTS 5 (or above) or TOEFL 70 (or above) (for programs in English and non-English speakers);

⑧     passport photo(electronic form acceptable);

⑨     Certificate of non-criminal record;

⑩     Bank statement.

2.     Non-degree courses

①   A photocopy of the applicant’s passport;

②   Physical examination record for foreigner;

③   Academic diploma: a photocopy of the applicant’s latest academic diploma or certificate of university education;

④   A photocopy of the applicant’s emergence contact (can be a passport, license, or other official ID);

⑤   passport photos (electronic form acceptable);

⑥   Certificate of non-criminal record;

⑦   Bank statement.

* All the certificate and records should be notarized by local Chinese Embassy or local Chinese Consulates (or foreign embassies or consulates in China).

C. Expenses

Tuition: RMB 5300 per year for science, RMB 4700 per year for humanities, and RMB 6800 per year for fine arts (usually exempted; see part D for details)

Accommodation on campus: RMB 500-1200 per year (exempted; see part D for details)

Books: about RMB800 (different according to real spending)

D. Scholarship

Students who pass every course are qualified for being awarded the scholarships, including the exemption of tuition, accommodation fee and granting of living allowance (see the following details).

Scholarship in details

1.       For the first semester, all the students would be grant the exemption of tuition and accommodation fee, at the same time, they will be granted the living allowance of 300 per month.

2.       Since the second semester, the scholarship would be awarded on the following conditions.

①  Students who have passed all the courses (including passing in the resits) would be awarded the exemption of tuition and accommodation fee; those who fail would have to pay the tuition and the accommodation fee for the following semester or quit.

② Students whose performance is in top 10% (included) of all international students according to the comprehensive evaluation of NTVU will be granted a living allowance of RMB500 per month (10 months a year) while staying in China.

③ Students whose performance is between top 10% to 40% (included) of all international students according to the comprehensive evaluation of NTVU will be granted a living allowance of RMB400 per month (10 months a year) while staying in China.

④ Students whose performance is in above the 80% of all international students according to the comprehensive evaluation of NTVU will be granted a living allowance of RMB300 per month (10 months a year) while staying in China.

Notes: The scholarship will be awarded under the following premises: the candidates should not violate Chinese law or school rules or regulations.

E. Campus internship

International students with good English proficiency can apply for a paid on campus internship organized by NTVU.

南通职业大学来华留学生入学申请表

NANTONG VOCATIONAL UNIVERSITY

APPLICATION FORM FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

注：1、接到您完整的申请材料，经审查合格后，我们将在三个月内寄发《入学通知书》和《JW202》（来华签证申请表）。

     2、如未被录取，申请材料不予退还。

     3、本表每份仅限申请一期，若想申请两期以上，请分别填写申请表（申请表可复印使用）。

     4、申请人请将所需材料在开学前两个月寄到或送交国际合作教育学院办公室。

Notes: 1. Within three months after receiving the application, the University will send an Admission Notice, along with Form JW202 for visa application, to student who is accepted.

      2. Application documents will not be returned.

        3. Each application is valid for one session of study. Those who wish to join more than one session successively must apply and pay the application fees separately (The Form can be copied).

        4. The completed form should be returned two months before the opening of the university to the School of International Cooperation and Education Office together with the required supporting documents.

The applicants should return the form together with the following documents:

3.    The applicant who is learning in other Chinese university should also provide:

①   A sealed transfer letter from the Foreign Students’ Office of the university;

②   A recommendation letter from the class teacher;

A photocopy of your visa or residence permit in China.
