Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery (IIGJ), an initiative of GJEPC, was established under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce & Industries in 2003. The Institute has its main training facility at Andheri housed in its own fully air-conditioned standalone four storied building, with a total built- up area of over 12000 Sq. ft. The campus reflects a commitment to quality and dedication to the creative and intellectual needs of students. The educational needs of the students are also promoted in unprecedented experiences of academic energy, exploration and challenges. The Institute is in its 13th year of existence and over 3000 students have since passed out from various educational courses.
At IIGJ, a student's education doesn't end at the classroom door. The Institute provides an incredible variety of opportunities for students to enhance and supplement classroom learning with hands-on experiences in top jewellery companies, a list which will read like the who's who of the jewellery industry.
The Institutes educational programs are well supported by 18 full time qualified and experienced faculties and also professionals from the industry who are also invited as guest speakers. Three CAD labs with an overall capacity of 100 computer stations with all licensed 3D design software, two design studios, and a 45 station work bench training setup for jewellery manufacturing, Laser welder and Fisher XRF laser spectroscope are some of the other state of the art facilities available at the institute. The Institute also has its own 60 seater air conditioned auditorium with audio-visual support.
Besides its main training facility at Andheri, IIGJ also has training hub at Tardeo in the heart of Mumbai City.
Apart from regular jewellery educational classes for students, IIGJ has now collaborated with Welingkar Institute of Management Mumbai to conduct Jewellery Management programs.
IIGJ has recently restructured its courses to bring it in line with the requirement of the industry. The courses are now more intensive and comprehensive aiming to bring out the best in each individual.

3 YEAR GRADUATE PROGRAM IN JEWELLERY DESIGN & MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES

IIGJ in partnership with Mewar University (approved by the UGC Act 1956, with The right to confer degree under section 22(1) of the UGC Act vide letter No.F.9-15/2009 (CPP-I) dated 30th March 2009) as their training Partner offers a BA Degree in Jewellery Design & Manufacturing Techniques.
Who can Apply :Students looking for a Degree & aspiring to join the Jewellery Industry to become Future managers with adequate industry relevant intensive training in practical, Theoretical as well as operation aspects.
POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME
1 YEAR POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN JEWELLERY MANAGEMENT
Introduction :This course is designed for the ambitious, enthusiastic and determined career Seeking students. The course provides the student with hands on training Experience in all aspects of Jewellery from Concept building, Manufacturing, CAD/CAM, Merchandising, Product Development along with Management Training.

Introduction :These courses are designed to impart 540 hrs. of intensive training in jewellery Techniques based on NSDC guidelines.

IIGJ Mumbai provides state-of-the-art infrastructure to its students. These facilities go a long way in ensuring a productive campus life and providing a perfect backdrop for academic pursuits.
MANUFACTURING WORKSHOP
The Workshop at IIGJ Mumbai is a full-fledged 45 Jewellery Manufacturing stations. It is equipped with the most modern machinery and tools that are required for Imparting Training in Jewellery Manufacturing.
From the very fundamentals of alloying the metal, rolling into plates or wires, the more intricate techniques of joining, linking and setting stones are taught in this workshop by experienced faculties. State of the art casting machines, both automatic semi-automatic along with centrifugal and other machinery such as laser welding machine, wet grinders, graver max, microscopes for micro setting are installed and in use by the students. Finishing equipment include, bench polishers, magnetic polishers, steam jet cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners and sand blasting equipment.
At all times safety precautions are taken in imparting training to the students. The students get hands on experience working at the bench. Each bench is equipped with a full set of tools and consumables for the job.
CAD LAB
At IIGJ the CAD LAB is equipped with the most advanced Jewellery design software like Rhino, Metrix and Jewel CAD.
We have 2 CAD LAB with an overall capacity of 45 work stations at a time. The LABS are also equipped with projector facility.
DESIGN STUDIO
Design classroom also called studio situated on 3rd floor a capacity of 30 students very airy and naturally lighted. The room is fitted with video for display.
At IIGJ we have four Design Studio for imparting training in Jewellery Designing. Facilities in a design studio include furniture art equipment best suited for design work and extending to work benches, small machines, computer equipment, paint shops and large presentation boards and screens. Also have facility to arrange the seminars and other activities.
CLASSROOM
At our Institute we have eight big and small classrooms where we conduct Certificate & Degree Course. Design and Gemmology Class are fitted with video for the purpose of Design & Diamond analysis. In Diamond classes we also have microscope. All classrooms are brightly lighted by natural light. The classes have different capacity of 10-20 students. Especially CAD-CAM classes fitted with 15 individual computers carrying several different type of software.
AUDITORIUM
The Institute has its own well equipped Auditorium with the latest Audio Visual Facilities.
Auditorium has 63 seating arrangement which can be increase to 80 by putting additional chairs aisle. It is equipped with video and sound system which can be adjusted to the requirement. It also has facility of sliding screen to display Presentation & CD's.
LIBRARY
The students have access to the Central Library of IIGJ Mumbai which has a splendid reference and lending facilities for books, journals, periodicals, Magazines.
